Doing charity has rarely been this fun. The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has gone viral on social media, and the latest Bollywood superstar to take it head on is Akshay Kumar.
Akshay Kumar was challenged by his good friend Riteish Deshmukh to dare pour ice-cold water on himself. Akshay underwent the challenge in chilly Cape Town where he’s shooting for the show Dare To Dance.
In the video, Akshay Kumar explains that the water used in the challenge is sea water and not potable water, so there’s no question of wastage. Secondly, the Entertainment actor revealed that the temperature in Cape Town at the time of the challenge is around 8 degrees Celsius.
To top it, Akshay did not have just one bucket dumped over him. He had the eleven contestants from the show doing the honours. Watch the video below:
Akshay posted this message along with the video: “I accepted my friend Riteish Deshmukh's ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and did it within 24 hrs but unfortunately being in a different country & owing to bad connectivity I couldn't upload the video on time. So I'm donating to the ALS Association, you could too on www.als.org Now I nominate my wife Twinkle Khanna, my business partner Ashvini Yardi and my friends Salman Khan and Johnny Lever to participate and raise awareness for ALS. And you've got to do it within 24 hours, your time starts now.”
In case you’ve been out of touch, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge involves dumping ice-cold water on oneself or donating money to ALS Association that uses the donation for research and patient services for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
Anyone taking the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge can nominate his friends or colleagues for further challenge to be undertaken in 24 hours, failing which they will have to donate money. So it remains to be seen if Salman Khan will take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
