November started with a thump as Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani stirred the box office. Then it was Tum Mile and 2012. The jam season for the cine goers has started with so many good movies releasing every week.
Talking about the box office collection, last week’s release ‘Tum Mile’ opened to good response and garnered Rs 2.50 crore on its first day. But unexpectedly it did average business on Saturday and Sunday and grossed approx Rs 8 crore only over its first weekend.
However, the film got tough competition from Hollywood. The much hyped apocalyptic movie ‘2012’ has broken all the opening day records for foreign films in India. The advantage was also because of its several dubbed versions; it collected around Rs 14-15 crore approx from its Hindi and English versions and roughly around Rs 5-6 crore from its Telugu and Tamil versions in its first weekend. The movie has affected the business of both ‘Tum Mile’ and ‘Ajab Prem…’.
Whereas, Ranbir Kapoor-Katrina Kaif starrer ‘Ajab Prem…’ is rock steady at BO and collected around Rs 11 crore over its second weekend, taking its ten day total to around Rs 29 crore approx. The movie could have done better if 2012 wasn’t attracting the masses. The film may collect around Rs 15-16 crore approx from its second week run.
This Friday, the box office hots up with Kurbaan release.
