Take that! all ye money-minting big stars of Bollywood. Three turkeys on the trot in 2009 have made the once bankable Akshay Kumar take an unprecedented career decision. He won’t charge a paisa for his next two films - Khatta Meetha and Tees Maar Khan.
Now, to redeem self of the past mistakes, the superstar has come up with a novel strategy. He won’t take any acting fee for his next two films. Rather his production house Hari Om Productions will be co-producing these films. If the movies hit the bull’s eye at box office and rake in the moolah, Akshay will pocket his share of the profits. The poorer a film fares, the lesser profit Akshay takes. And if a film flops, he takes nothing.
“By not charging my personal remuneration as an actor, I’m making sure that these films will at least romp home with no losses,” Akshay is quoted as saying by a tabloid.
While Akshay’s daring move has been welcomed by producers, other stars of his stature are cautious. After all, with this strategy Akki might expand his turf in the industry.
