Amitabh Bachchan's single-take monologue stuns the crew

Not for nothing is he called the paa of actor’s fraternity. Amitabh Bachchan stunned the crew on the sets of Ram Gopal Varma’s film Rann when he delivered a 13-minute-long scene in single take.

“It was instantly done in the first take itself. The crew was astonished and claps were heard much after the scene was over,” a source is quoted as saying by a news agency.

The monologue was the longest in Big B’s film career spanning four decades.

‘Rann’, an indictment of the fourth estate, has Amitabh playing Vijay Harshvardhan Malik, a media baron. The film has already run into controversy over a song that borrows lines from India’s national anthem.

We learn that while shooting another scene in the film, Big B’s eyes welled up as he identified too deeply with the pain of his character.

The movie, also starring Ritesh Deshmukh, Paresh Rawal, Rajat Kapoor, Mohnish Behl and Neetu Chandra, is set to release in January 2010.
