Cheap clothes for Amitabh Bachchan Teen Patti
Mathematics professors aren’t exactly known for their fashion statements. Beneath their tacky clothes lies ‘the beautiful mind’ buzzing with mathematical ideas. So, it was a given that Amitabh Bachchan, no matter how big a superstar he is, won’t get to slip into designer suits for his role of a reclusive maths professor in director Leena Yadav’s upcoming film Teen Patti.

The onus to style Big B’s look fell on designer Ameira Punvani who has previously designed costumes for films like Guru, Shortkut - The Con Is On and Zinda.

“For Mr. Bachchan I created a look that had trousers, which were a mix of polyester, cheap material, around Rs. 200 per metre along with checked cotton shirts...That was something a college professor would wear,” Punvani is quoted as saying by a news agency.

Not just the clothes, Punvani even got an old wrist watch for Big from the Chor Bazaar of Mumbai.

“He (Big B) wears the best of watches (in real life), but I went to Mumbai's Chor Bazaar and got a very old watch from there that was not even automatic,” she said.

Did Mr. Bachchan have any issues wearing the cheap clothes and watch?

“He gave me a free hand and had no problems trying the costumes. He always used to give me time despite being so busy and patiently tried out everything. He is extremely professional,” she said.

Apart from Big B, Punvani also did the costumes for other actors in the film, namely Madhavan, Dhruv Ganesh, Shraddha Kapoor, Siddharth Kher and Vaibhav Talwar. ‘Teen Patti’ is slated to release on February 26.
