The Punjab Cultural And Heritage Board has objected to Saif’s trimmed beard

Saif’s beard angers Sikhs
Saif Ali Khan is in the middle of a brewing controversy regarding his Sikh look in Love Aaj Kal, his first home production along with partner Dinesh Vijan. The movie, directed by Imtiaz Ali, has Saif playing doubles roles, one of which is of a Sikh named Veer Singh.

The Punjab Cultural And Heritage Board has reportedly sent a memorandum to Saif, Dinesh and Imtiaz, expressing their protest against what they call Saif’s ‘trimmed’ beard.

The President of the board says Sikhs don’t trim their beard, so Saif’s character in the film doesn’t represent a true Sikh.

Saif and Imtiaz have met the board and tried to allay their apprehensions by saying that the Sikh character has been represented very well in the film. To further placate the angered board members, the actor-director duo plan to hold a special screening of the film for them.

‘Love Aaj Kal’ will hit the screens on July 31.

Earlier, Akshay Kumar and director Vipul Shah got into trouble for showing Akki with a trimmed beard in Singh Is Kinng.
