Asha Bhosle snubs Raj Thackeray, says Mumbai belongs to all

“Mumbai belongs to all”. She could not have chosen a better event or occasion to say this. On Sunday evening at an event called ‘Swar Asha’ in Pune, singer Asha Bhosle shared the dais with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray.

At the programme organized by a channel named ‘Mi Marathi’ Raj again tried to play his regional card by stating that Asha Bhosle is loved by all because she’s a Marathi.

“Asha Bhosle has sung many songs in different languages. People in different parts accept these songs as their own. This happened only because she is Marathi,” Raj reportedly said in his speech.

However, in the public interview after Raj’s speech, Asha said Mumbai belongs to all those who believe in working hard.

“Mumbai belongs to all of India...No one can snatch the job of a man who works here (Mumbai) from morning to evening. Our people (the Maharashtrians) should also show the readiness to work hard. I worked tirelessly and that is why no one could snatch what was due to me,” Asha said.

The celebrated singer also added that she was proud to be a Maharashtrian.

Raj Thackeray, who was at the function to honour Asha, did not respond to her comment.
