A couple and an unwanted guest

The life of a happily married young couple turns topsy-turvy when an uninvited guest comes to their home and settles down without any intention to leave. Director Ashwini Dhir’s film tackles the dilemma of such a couple in a humourous way in Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?.

The movie stars Ajay Devgan, Konkona Sen Sharma and Paresh Rawal in lead roles.

Character Sketches:

Ajay Devgan as Puneet

In his thirties, Puneet is a writer who, after years of hard work, has got his lucky break to write a film. His wife and his son are understandably elated over the development. But then the sudden and unannounced arrival of a dogmatic long lost uncle spirals his life completely out of control.

Konkona Sen Sharma as Munmun

Munmun, Puneet’s 27-seven-year old wife, works as an interior designer. She is a sweet and accommodating person and gives importance to traditional family values, but is also ambitious and career oriented.

Paresh Rawal as Chachaji
65-year-old Lambodar Bajpai (called Chachaji) is from a small village in North India who is visiting his distant nephew Puneet and his family in Mumbai. An extremely eccentric, head strong and opinionated person, he is often appalled with the ways of the modern city folks. He can be unpredictable, goofy and mercurial, but is also loving, warm and has a genuine concern for the people around him.

Synopsis

Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? is the story of Puneet (Ajay Devgan) and Munmun (Konkona Sen), a happily married couple living in Mumbai whose lives take an interesting turn when a distant relative, Chachaji (Paresh Rawal) turns up unannounced at their doorstep from a far off village.

The guest voluntarily makes himself comfortable in their home and overstays his welcome so much so that the exasperated couple come up with various ploys to hasten his departure to hilarious results.

‘Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?’ has music by Pritam and lyrics by Irshad Kamil. The film is slated to release on March 5.
