The adorable ‘Atithi’ wins at box office

It was a good clash at box office with not just two but four movies. While most of them were offbeat flicks, audience’s heart went out for Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? making this entertainer the top earner in comparison to the rest. The movie opened at 30-35% managing Rs 2.25-2.50 crore approx in day one. And it had a good first weekend of around Rs 8 crore approx; the film has all chances to recover its costs.

While Road, Movie which released on around 150 multiplexes, marked a fair opening with 10-15% at multiplexes. Though the Abhay Deol starrer has won appreciation at various international film festivals, it couldn’t click with Indian audience; most of them found it a slow, tiring journey.

Udita Goswami and Tanushree Dutta too couldn’t pull movie buffs to theatres for their horror flick Rokkk. The movie was poor at multiplexes while single screens managed just 20% collections. Another film Thanks Maa with no major star cast and lack of publicity had just 0-5% collection.

Karthik Calling Karthik is suffering from low collections. The film will most likely see a further heavy drop of screenings in week two, and, as reported, the lifetime business of the movie will find it hard to cross the Rs 20 crore mark. And Teen Patti is a disaster.
