Village girls are often shown in films as coy and simpering but the character that Minissha Lamba plays in director Shyam Benegal’s Well Done Abba is a far cry from such stereotypes.
“This is something I have never done before. I play Muskaan who is not the stereotypical village girl. She is bold, confident and lives her life on her own. I could relate to the character,” Minissha said in Mumbai.
In the movie she plays the daughter of Boman Irani, who plays a taxi driver who takes a leave to fix her marriage. Minissha said she had decided to do the film even before reading the script because it was to be directed by Shyam Benegal.
“I did not think twice as it was Shyam sir. I was willing to do any role he offered to me. Even before hearing the script I had decided that I will do the film,” Minissha revealed.
And now that the film is set to release on the coming Friday, Minissha hopes it will bring her acting talent to the notice of everyone.
“With this film I hope my talent gets appreciated by audiences and the industry too. And I would get opportunities to show my potential as an actor,” Minissha said.
