Paathshaala and Phoonk 2 failed to impress the audience, resulting in bad collections on the opening day. If Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Paathshaala’ opened to a poor response of 25-30% at multiplexes, Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Phoonk 2’ also registered a very dull 15-20% collection.
However, ‘Paathshaala’ did a bit better business on Saturday and Sunday at multiplexes and collected Rs 6.50 crore approx over its first weekend. But good weekend figures can’t help the film’s fate as the overall business is not that good. As reported, the first week collections may just hit the Rs 10 crore mark.
‘Phoonk 2’ was expected to do a business like its first part Phoonk, but unfortunately this horror film has very few takers and the movie recorded Rs 3.25 crore business over its first weekend. The respite for the producers is that the movie would be able to recover its costs because of its low budget. And, as trade analysts predict, the first week business will be of Rs 5 crore approx.
Action thriller Prince grossed around Rs 16 crore approx over its first week. The film did a good business on single screens. Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai is declared a disaster with its poor Rs 3.50 crore approx collection in its first week.
