When Hrithik Roshan almost gave up acting

Bollywood would have been deprived of the acting talent of Hrithik Roshan had his knee not held up. Before shooting for the movie Kites in Las Vegas, the actor almost gave up his career because of his persistent and recurring knee problem which even the doctors said could not be cured, much to Hrithik’s dismay and devastation. The actor expectedly slipped into depression at the thought of never being able to dance or do stunts.

“Before beginning shooting for 'Kites', I was trying to get my knee treated and doctors said it will not be able to function. I was heartbroken and was even contemplating an alternative career in singing or direction...I was on crutches,” Hrithik is quoted as saying by a news agency.

But Hrithik did not give up. He tried various therapies and they miraculously worked and the pain disappeared within days when he began shooting for ‘Kites’.

“Within a week of shooting, my knee pain just disappeared,” he said.

Regaining his fitness boosted his confidence so much that he did his own stunts in the film and even ended up hurting himself while performing a scene in which he breaks a glass window.

“It was an emotional scene and my mind was in the character. The accident was a good reminder to be aware that you can hurt yourself in small actions,” he said.
