Dummies of dead men were found hanging on the hoardings of ‘Agyaat’

Ram Gopal Varma is at it again. If he offered huge prize money to anyone able to watch his film Phoonk alone in the auditorium, this time he has gone a step further to grab the eyeballs before the release of his horror film Agyaat.

Mumbaikars on Monday were shocked to see the figures of dead men hanging from the huge hoardings of ‘Agyaat’. At some places people thought someone had committed suicide and dialed the police number. Surprisingly, when the police reached the venue even they thought it was an actual dead body. It was only after the figure was brought down from the hoarding did they realize that it was just a dummy used as a promotional gimmick.

Residents in other areas like Andheri, Juhu and Jogeshwari objected strongly to the macabre, blood-stained dummies hanging from the hoardings.

The dummies were reportedly put on the hoardings on Sunday night. However, after seeing the strong reaction from the crowds - at some places, people gathered in droves - UTV Motion Pictures agreed to remove the dummies.

Ram Gopal Varma meanwhile has clarified that the dummies were only meant to promote the genre (horror) and not to offend people.

‘Agyaat’ tells the story of a film crew in a jungle. The members of the crew get killed one by one by something mysterious. Starring south star Nitin and ‘Priyanka’ Nisha Kothari, ‘Agyaat’ is set for release on August 7.
