As the ongoing Miss Universe contest heads to its culmination on Aug. 23 at the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas, the reigning beauty queen Dayana Mendoza of Venezuala is set to take a bow in style.
Reports say the sassy damsel will go topless for the September issue of men's magazine Maxim. Unlike last year when she created a controversy by purportedly posing in the nude for a jewelry ad, Dayana is playing safe this time.
Firstly, the magazine featuring her topless images will hit the stands after a new girl is crowned Miss Universe in the Bahamas. Secondly, Dayana is learnt to have taken permission to pose topless from the pageant’s owner Donald Trump.
For last one year, Dayana has been traveling around the world to support humanitarian causes and promote AIDS awareness. She also visited the Guantanamo Bay detention camp in March this year but her comments about the visit - calling Guantanamo a “calm, beautiful and relaxing place” - created uproar in her home country.
Miss Universe 2009 pageant will be held on August 23 at the Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas. Contestants from 84 countries are competing for the coveted crown. India’s hopes are pinned on the 23-year-old Delhi girl Ekta Choudhary .
