Salman Khan is quick to learn a lesson from the Shahrukh Khan detention episode at Newark Airport early this month. Salman was to fly to New York to promote his upcoming release Wanted and also to participate in the auction of his paintings.
The actor was slated to take part in a gala event on September 3 in New York. Talks were also on for similar events in cities like Chicago, Houston and Dallas. But now, the US trip stands canceled.
The organisers and promoters of the event cited Shahrukh Khan's episode as the reason for Salman’s canceled trip.
“However, after the Shahrukh Khan event, Salman informed us that he would not like to take the risk of coming to the US at this point,” a source is quoted by PTI as saying.
‘Wanted’ producer Boney Kapoor, his wife Sridevi and director Prabhu Deva were also scheduled to attend the New York event.
Reports say the US Consulate in Mumbai is giving ‘hard time’ in approving the visa of Salman’s close associates, including one of his family members, whom the superstar wanted to bring along on the promotional trip to the US.
