Namitha in trouble

Not promoting one’s film can land an actor into serious trouble. The Nadigar Sangam, an influential Film Artistes’ Association of South, has issued a showcause notice to actress Namitha for skipping a promotional event of her film.

Namitha didn’t show up at the audio launch of her film ‘Azhagana Ponnuthan’ last Friday. Everyone present at the event was utterly disappointed and felt jilted because of the hot actress’ absence. This incident set off the alarm and Nadigar Sangam was forced to issue a notice to the actress, following a representation from the TFPC (Tamil Film Producers Council) and the Film Federation Employees’ Association.

TFPC Secretary Sivasakthi Pandian is quoted to have said at that time, “I think strict action should be taken against those artistes who don’t turn up for their own film’s promotions.”

The voluptuous southern siren is not the only one to face the grudge of the producers’ union; famous actresses like Nayantara, Meera Jasmine and Meenakshi have also received notices for similar reasons. All the actresses missed the audio launch of their films.

However, Namitha has clearly stated that no matter what she is always there to promote her films and that she missed the audio launch because she was down with viral fever and her doctor advised rest.
