|Her second film Dilli 6 might have bitten the box-office dust, but Sonam Kapoor hasn’t lost love for the capital city. Presently in the city to shoot dad Anil Kapoor’s home production Ayesha, Sonam doesn’t mince words to express her love for Delhi.
“I’m in love with this city. I love the food, shopping, parties and people of Delhi - they are so lively. When you watch this city on the big screen, it looks beautiful,” she told reporters during a break between the shooting.
Abhay Deol, her co-star in the film has also been shooting with her during the Delhi schedule.
Apparently, the film’s shooting has been getting affected by the unexpected showers that have hit the city in the end of August and early September.
“But the weather is unpredictable - one moment it’s sunny and suddenly it starts raining and that is the only thing that I don’t like about this place. But every time I come here, I feel good,” said Sonam.
In the film, inspired from Jane Austen’s novel ‘Emma’, Soman plays Ayesha, a “classy, sophisticated and intelligent” girl who lives near Aurangzeb Road in the posh central Delhi area. The character is a slightly spoilt but fun-loving girl.
Incidentally, Sonam herself is quite fond of Jane Austen novels.
A story of misconstrued romance, ‘Ayesha’ has Abhay playing the modern Mr. Knightley. Actress Vidushi Mehra plays Sonam’s sister.
The film will be shot in Rishikesh from the middle of September. However, the unit will then return to Delhi to shoot two wedding sequences - an Indian traditional wedding and an English wedding.
