A typical Bollywood love triangle, Main Aur Mrs Khanna has Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor playing husband and wife for the first time. The film, directed by Prem Soni, also has Govinda and Preity Zinta doing cameos. And if it’s a Salman film, who else could be the music director besides Sajid-Wajid? The duo is back with ‘Main Aur Mrs Khanna’ after a lackluster Wanted music album.
The songs have been penned by Kumar and there are five original tracks and two remixes in the album. So, let’s see what ‘Main Aur Mrs Khanna’ has to offer in terms of music.
Don’t say Alvida, a usual Sajid-Wajid song is a soft, hummable romantic track in the voice of Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghosal. Though the song lacks that contemporary upbeat feel, it is best in the collection. The slow number gets pacy in its remixed version, while its sad version appears to be a situational track.
The Kajra Re like song Happening is a hip and happening qawwali track. It seems it was composed keeping Preity in mind and is just an apt song for a sassy singer like Sunidhi Chauhan, while supporting her behind the mike are Wajid and Raza Mustaq. But the tune is not catchy enough to make it memorable and its remixed version is not that ‘happening’.
The way the next track starts you might get confused as it sounds very similar to Pretty woman from Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. Anyway, there’s hardly anything worth mentioning about the title song Mrs Khanna except the fact that Bappi Lahiri, Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan have sung this very mediocre track.
The album gets into a melancholic mood with Rabba, a soulful track by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. And song Tumne Socha Kaisa makes you think that Sajid-Wajid can also compose a zippy song with a western influence.
To conclude, the songs of ‘Main Aurr Mrs Khanna’ don’t have much to offer. The tunes are forgettable and the lyrics mediocre. Better give it a miss.
