Do Knot Disturb - Music Review
Does Knot Impress!

The comedy king is back with his usual dose of fun in Do Knot Disturb. So, what kind of music do you expect from a David Dhawan film? Chilled-out, fun-to-hear, hummable tracks…Right? His last release Partner also had masti filled numbers and we still remember the kitschy ‘Sona Kitna Sona Hai’ or ‘Main Rastey Se Ja Raha Tha’ kind of songs from his films.

‘Do Knot Disturb’ has Dhawan’s favourite actor Chi Chi aka Govinda, Ritesh Deshmukh, Lara Dutta and Sushmita Sen. For music, he relies on yesteryears hit Jodi, Nadeem-Shravan and who else than Sameer for penning the lyrics. The team is ready; so is it really a joyous ride, like any other David film? Let’s find the answer.

The first song in the album, Zulfaen Khol Khal Ke will not give you a chance to think that the song is not from a David Dhawan film. The composers have successfully rehashed the song that sounds like the one from a gone decade. However, singers Sonu Nigam and Anuradha Sriram have done justice to the track and have delivered it with enthusiasm and style.

We can easily put the next song, Don’t Ever Leave Me in the ‘give a miss’ list. In fact, singers Shaan and Shreya Ghosal have been wasted in such a middling track.

Bollywood music is incomplete without Punjabi beats. Mere Naal is a good bhangra number but its rhythm and flow makes it an unforgettable track. However, kudos to the team of KK, Jigar Saraiya, Shreya Ghoshal, Nitika Kanwar and Earl D’Souza for the energetic performance.

The only chartbuster number in the album, Bebo is a hip hop track that easily manages to catch your auditory senses. In the vocals of Neeraj Sridhar and Anushka Manchanda, this number makes you jig for a while. And then the song reaches crescendo with Punjabi lines bari barsi khatan gaya si khat ke liyandi bebo. Funny, isn’t it?

In the voice of Neeraj again, Beautiful Woman tries to be zippy but disappoints at some moments - neither edgy nor catchy. Another not-so-impressive number follows, Do Knot Disturb makes for a very dull title track, though the lyrics are humorous but where is the melody?

It’s hard to believe after listening to the tracks that composers like Nadeem-Shravan have created the tunes. Trying to match up with their contemporaries and coming after a hiatus of four years, they required a better launch pad. Nevertheless, it’s a David Dhawan film - a light comedy; so is the music (light and casual)

With mediocre songs, ‘Do Knot Disturb’ album doesn’t have anything that can be called ‘extraordinary’ or say ‘good’. My heart goes for one song and that’s ‘Bebo’.
