Rani Mukherjee’s relationship with Yashraj honcho Aditya Chopra has been fodder for gossip mills ever since Adi took the actress under his wing. And over the years Rani has restricted herself to Yashraj Films, doing as many as a dozen films with the banner; but in bargain she lost out on projects from other production houses.
The actress got candid about her relationship with Aditya Chopra and about her career decisions in an interview to Star Week.
“I have a very special relationship with Adi. He's a person who I absolutely admire and respect. He always had faith in me since the beginning. He was the one who spotted me in ‘Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat’ and recommended me to Karan (Johar) for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. He and Shah Rukh were instrumental in changing Karan's mind about me,” Rani is quoted to have said.
Speaking about being reduced to a Yashraj heroine, Rani said: “Coincidentally, all the roles I've done in the recent past have come from the same banner. I would've done those films had anyone else offered them to me too. Of course, I have a comfort factor with Yash Raj. I've done 12 films with them.”
Rani added that she has the same comfort level with Karan Johar’s company Dharma Productions, and Shahrukh Khan’s production house Red Chillies Entertainment.
Though her latest release Dil Bole Hadippa was lashed by critics, Rani says she isn’t worried.
“I'm in a very happy state of mind right now. My film has done well; my family is here; my friends have appreciated my work,” Rani said.
