He hasn’t forgotten his struggling days

Akshay Kumar returns the favour
In the early 1990s when Akshay Kumar was a struggler, still an anonymous name, and was wearing off his shoe soles making rounds of producers’ offices, it was filmmaker Pramod Chakravarthy who took the gamble and gave Akshay the big break in his film Deedar (1992) opposite Karisma Kapoor.

That one movie set the ball rolling and has brought Akshay to where he is today. Verily, Akshay hasn’t forgotten the favour.

Now, Pramod’s son Pradeep wants to produce a film to launch the career of his son Prateek as a director. Reports say Pradeep approached Akshay to star in the film and the actor has agreed to do so. It’s Akki’s way of returning the favour.

Not just this, two years ago, Akshay recommended his good friend and filmmaker Vipul Amrutlal Shah to take Prateek as an assistant so that the young man could learn the art of filmmaking. Prateek has assisted Shah on London Dreams and Action Replay. Now, he feels confident enough to direct a film himself.

Lucky lad, for he’s got Akki to star in his first film.
