MTV makes their move
Your TV will never be the same

MTV is entering a new realm as the popular music channel has decided to change their logo by dropping the term ‘Music Television’. The channel dons a new avatar of being a complete entertainment provider from this Saturday.

Ashish Patil, general manager and senior vice president (Creative and Content), MTV India, says, ‘Dropping the 'Music Television’ from under the logo is a big symbolic statement and finally closes the loop on the repositioning exercise MTV kicked off two years back. We were born of music, inspired by music, driven by music - but not limited by music.'

The channel will soon start the shows that will cater for the entertainment needs of their varied audience. First of its kind, the show ‘Rant or Rambling About Nothing Today’ will have an analysis on latest issues plaguing the media. Another show, MTV What The Hack, will have internet wizard Ankit Fadia, giving out tricks about how to be safe in the virtual world.

Obviously Bollywood and the fashion industry have to be part of the channel’s great move. The show ‘Nuon MTV Making the Cut’ will have eight designers and 16 models to hunt for the best in fashion. It will be judged by ace designers and stars like Lara Dutta, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Neha Dhupia, Celina Jaitley, Madhur Bhandarkar, Narendra Kumar Ahmed, Dipannita Sharma.

All said and done, MTV’s new image is more about graphics and will boast a new “graphics environment” that aims to engage viewers through RSS feeds, mobile contests, scrolls, scraps and pop ups.

This Diwali, welcome the new MTV.
