For 36 years, actor Shatrughan Sinha groomed it, trimmed it, and flaunted it with pride. Now, in one fell stroke, he has shaved off his moustache for a role in director Ram Gopal Varma’s next film Rakta Charitra.
Some credit however must also be given to Ramu for Shotgun’s new makeover since the actor never let a razor touch his moustache - symbolic of his Bihari pride - for any film in his entire career. Why this exception for Ramu?
According to Shatru, “the dynamism of the role” he plays in ‘Rakta Charitra’ convinced him to shave off his mouche. In the movie he plays the late Telugu superstar NT Rama Rao, who later in life became a charismatic politician with a far-reaching appeal among masses.
Of course, Shotgun had his apprehensions before shaving off. He consulted his wife Poonam and daughter Sonakshi Sinha who is herself set to start an innings in Bollywood. Once the two ladies gave their go-ahead, Shotgun didn’t waste time to shave off.
Though he’s missing his mouche, Shotgun says a clean-shaven face has given him a new and almost unrecognizable look which none had seen for years.
