The Om Shanti Om girl seems to have to hit the jackpot, as she is getting the chance to work with none other than maverick Ashutosh Gowariker.

Ashu who is known to portray actresses in a beautiful way in his films may finalize the suave Deepika Padukone for his next film. Actually, it was a sort of moment of crisis for the director who was keen to sign Asin for his film but the cautious actress sited date problems after listening to the script and stepped out of the running.

The film ‘Khelein Gay Hum Jee Jaan Se’ is another historical drama by Ashu set in the pre-independence era. He has signed Abhishek Bachchan for the main lead and Deepika is going to pair opposite him for the first time.

Since Bachchan Jr is part of the film, rumours were rife that Aishwarya Rai would be signed too but both Ashu and Ash later denied it.

If everything goes well, Deepika will soon start shooting for the film in Goa.
