Forgotten Sirens |
Was a time when Bollywood films were considered incomplete without item numbers. The filmi fad spawned a number of item girls who slipped into teeny-weeny cholis and wiggled their busts, batted their eyelashes, shook their pelvis, and, expectedly, elicited wolf whistles from the front benchers.
Yana Gupta took Bollywood by storm with her ‘Bijli Giri’ item song and followed it up with a number of similar raunchy ditties, but none matched the electrifying verve of ‘Bijli’. Rakhi Sawant, once a bona fide sex bomb, has now demoted herself to television. Likewise, Mumaith Khan flaunted her curves in a few songs before shifting base to south. Nigar Khan, meanwhile, showed little scruples in dropping her clothes before she was deported out of India for violating visa norms.
