Bollywood’s new import Nargis Fakhri ain’t the demure damsel to be squirming at the thought of going topless.
Even before she got her foot in the door to Bollywood with her debut film Rockstar, Nargis dared to go topless for a photoshoot. Perhaps a little recap of Nargis’ biography will help you picture the profile of the girl and why going topless wasn’t a big deal for her.
Nargis was born in New York to a Pakistani father and Czech mother. Before coming to India, Nargis was quite active on the fashion scene in the US. She appeared in America's Next Top Model in 2004. She first caught attention in India with her bold images on the 2009 Kingfisher Calendar. That’s when Nargis Fakhri went topless. And given her American upbringing and modelling background, it’s no surprise that she did. After all, didn’t Katrina Kaif pose in a bikini for the 2003 Kingfisher calendar? And didn’t Bipasha Basu also drop her top for an American advertisement before she stepped in Bollywood?
Perhaps, it’s Bollywood culture that makes people prudish about going topless! Jokes apart, Nargis Fakhri is now being touted as the next best thing in Bollywood. We all know what Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal did to the career of Giselle Monteiro. Now, Nargis Fakhri is set to enter the Bollywood big league. It all depends on how well she acts in the film.
