Nine yards of pure magic! Yes, we are talking about the sari. This pan-Indian elegant piece of garment is often seen in various forms because of its versatility. But how often do we see ladies trying to look different in it. Yesterday, when Sonam Kapoor arrived for Hello! Classic race, we couldn’t stop raving about her style sense which is elegant yet very chic. And she reminded us that one can be experimental while draping a sari. It is possible.
Though Sonam loves to create her own style rather than follow the trend, she is hardly seen in saris. So, her appearance in a red Anamika Khanna sari at the Hello! Classic race comes as a pleasant surprise. First she was not wearing a common teeny-weeny blouse with the sari, instead her backless blouse was with ruffles, reminiscent of vintage fashion. The actress also added layers of chunky jewelry which turned out to be quite oriental.
Sonam Kapoor also wore a sari at the famous Cannes festival last year. However, it wasn’t for the red carpet but for an exhibition at the film festival. It was a lovely polka dotted silk sari by Masaba Gupta with a shirt-inspired blouse, and Sonam made it work for her. No matter what, a shirt-inspired blouse is not something our actresses would like to go for.
