Hrithik Roshan - The tragic hero
I still remember these lines I read somewhere: ‘Tragedy delights by affording a shadow of the pleasure which exists in pain.’ And looks like Hrithik Roshan thinks of these lines (and not the ones taught to him by SRK in K3G and Master Jee in Agneepath) before giving a nod to a movie!
Jog your memory and tell us, what is common between the Rohit from Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai and the Vijay Dinanath Chauhan from Agneepath? Or for that matter, the J. from Kites and the Amaan Ikramullah from Fiza? Well, if your answer is that all the characters were played by Hrithik Roshan, you are absolutely correct! But don’t you think that is too easy an answer and do commonalities cease there?
Well, strange yet true, Hrithik Roshan’s character in all the movies died! Right from his first movie KNPH to his current blockbuster Agneepath, the character Hrithik Roshan played snuffed it in the film!
Out of all such films, and of course Guzaarish, only two of them have been successful at the BO, i.e. KNPH and Agneepath! While in KNPH, Hrithik Roshan is seen as Raj Chopra after his character Rohit dies, in all the rest of the movies, there is no double role or a reincarnation! So, technically, for Hrithik Roshan, Agneepath is the first such movie which has gone on to become a hit despite the fact that his character Vijay Dinanath Chauhan died!
Anyhow, though the fatality of your reel-life character has worked like a charm for you in Agneepath, we hope for your long life in real-life, Hrithik Roshan!
