Music composer Bappi Lahiri’s son Bappa Lahiri tied the knot with Taneesha Verma at ITC Grand Sheraton in Andheri and among the star guests at the wedding was the Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.
The groom Bappa Lahiri wore a designer beige sherwani with a lot of gold work done on it. The bride Taneesha Verma looked pretty in a red and gold lehenga. She was decked with a lot of gold jewellery. The groom arrived on a chariot and wielded a traditional sword. Bappi Lahiri was spotted dancing (see pics ahead).
The wedding was done according to Bengali customs and the most entertaining was the jaimala (the garland ceremony) when the families of both the groom and bride lifted them high up so as to make the other one bend for the jaimala. The wedding mandap was decorated with floral motifs.
Salman Khan arrived wearing a casual T-shirt and later put on a jacket. He blessed the couple and wished them a happy married life.
The other guests included Sophie Choudry, Masaba Gupta, Rupali Ganguly, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shraddha Kapoor, and politicos Jaya Prada, Rajiv Shukla and Amar Singh.
The finale of the wedding was an emotional affair. The bride sat inside a doli (palanquin) that was carried by the family members.
