Madhuri's Homage
Here’s a little treat for those who swear by Madhuri Dixit’s dancing prowess. In the promo of the telly show ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa 5’, the actress pays tribute to the dancing divas of yesteryear.

The promo of the popular dance reality show has Madhuri Dixit returning to the judge’s seat for the second year on the trot. It has the actress dancing to the evergreen numbers of Meena Kumari, Mumtaaz and Sridevi.

Meena Kumari’s subtle adaayein in the thumri track ‘Thade Rahiyo’ from Pakeezah are hard to match, but Madhuri is up to the job, as seen in these stills. Her dance steps for the promo were choreographed by Saroj Khan but a lot of them are imitation of Meena Kumari’s mujra from the 1972 film by Kamal Amrohi.

Madhuri also donned a figure-hugging, 70s-style, tight, peach-coloured churidaar salwar kameez for homage to Mumtaaz. She dances in Mumtaaz’s popular song “Motiyon Ki Ladee Hoon Main”.

And then there’s the tribute to Sridevi for which Madhuri is seen in a saree and dancing to the song ‘Kaate Nahin Katatey’ from Mr. India.
