Ajay Devgn pairs with the south beauty Tamannah in the modern remake of the 1983 flick Himmatwala. Here’s the first look of the film.
The original flick starring Jeetendra and Sridevi was a kitschy fare with lots of action, stunts and lofty dialogues that pass muster only in a Bollywood masala movie. Going by the first look of the remake, being directed by Sajid Khan, the 2012 Himmatwala too looks a glossy caper.
The poster has Ajay Devgn in a denim jacket, striking a dance pose with Tamannah clad in a choli and wearing a lot of jewellery, quite typical of the 80s’ flicks.
The film’s director Sajid Khan had earlier said: “Ajay's image is action and intense oriented, but for me, he is a complete hero. He can do anything. Our film is not a take-off on 'Himmatwala'. It's not a spoofy film. It is based on 1983 film 'Himmatwala' and it is my version of 'Himmatwala'.”
The film will also have Ajay Devgn dancing a la Jeetendra.
“I am ready to do anything, be it action or dance... You can't look at one department, it is a film in totality... I am looking at the whole film right now,” Ajay earlier said.
The new Himmatwala will also feature two songs from the original. Obviously, the songs will be given a modern makeover.
Himmatwala is slated to release on March 29 next year.
