Killer Kalari!
South actress Shriya Saran has impressed one and all with her deadly Kalari Payattu moves in the upcoming Kannada-Tamil bilingual film Chandra.
The movie has Shriya Saran playing a last generation princess adept in the Keralite martial art form of Kalari Payattu which involves swift swordplay and shield-blocks. Reportedly, the role was first offered to Ramya but the actress couldn’t rise to the challenge of learning the martial art, following which director Roopa Kumar dropped Ramya from the project and after considering and rejecting many other actresses finally zeroed down on Shriya Saran.
Shriya, when she read the script, was super excited at the idea of working in a period fantasy thriller. She trained in Kalari Payattu martial arts for two months under Sagar Aasan.
The film has Kannada star Prem Kumar in the lead role as Chandrahasa. Shriya Saran plays Maharani Ammanmani Chandravathy.
Supporting roles are played by Ganesh Venkataraman, Vijay Kumar, Vivek and Srinath.
