Salman Khan is the highest tax payer in Bollywood

In Taxman’s Good Books
Salman Khan’s fortunes have spiked with the maddening success of his runaway hit Ek Tha Tiger that came on the back of a number of 100 crore blockbusters and we’re not surprised to know that he has emerged as the highest tax payer from Bollywood.

The mega star has reportedly forked out a substantial Rs. 8 crore of advance tax to the taxman for the July-September quarter of 2012. Last year, he had paid Rs. 5 crore for the same period; so the superstar’s kitty has surely swelled.

Among the heroines, Katrina Kaif is the highest tax payer with a tax of Rs. 2.60 crore. Last year, she had paid 1.70 crore for the same quarter.

Both Salman and Katrina are among the top earners in Bollywood, thanks to the films and commercials they feature in. Their Ek Tha Tiger is just scraping past the Rs. 200 crore mark and there was even a rumour of a producer offering Salman Khan Rs. 100 crore for his movie, though the producer denied it later on.

The superstar is presently staring at another potential blockbuster Dabangg 2 and has a number of big projects under his belt, namely Kick with Sajid Nadiadwala and Sher Khan with brother Sohail Khan.

Katrina Kaif, on the other hand, is looking forward to the release of Jab Tak Hai Jaan with Shahrukh Khan. She’s also shooting for Dhoom 3, co-starring Aamir Khan and Abhishek Bachchan.
