It’s a materialistic man versus God in the Bollywood movie Omg Oh My God!, starring Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal in leading roles. The film is adapted from the Gujarati play ‘Kanji Virrudh Kanji’.
Omg Oh My God! tells the story of a man who falls afoul of God, and after damage to his personal property takes God to court and sues Him. It’s a lawsuit of the most baffling kind that leaves people wondering about a man’s guile and gall to take on the very Almighty. The plot thickens when the GOD himself descends on the earth and instead of unleashing fury upon this insolent human, shows love, affection and mercy.
The film is produced by Akshay Kumar, and according to him, it’s made not for money.
“'Oh My God' is not a film which I made to earn money. It's a film which I loved, enjoyed it because I enjoyed the play and what I learnt from the play, I just wanted to share with the audience and that is why I just made this film,” Akshay Kumar said while promoting the film.
Since the film’s subject -- a man suing the GOD -- can be sensitive and controversial, special care has been taken to not hurt religious sentiments.
“This film has got a 'U' certificate, without cuts. Obviously, the censor board has watched the film very carefully so that it does not hurt anyone's sentiments,” Akshay Kumar added.
