Vidya Balan could hardly contain her excitement while showing off her mehendi to the media persons at her Khar residence in Mumbai on Wednesday night.

The bride-to-be beamed with joy at the mehendi ceremony that was a very private affair with only family members and close friends. Bollywood actress Rekha, whom Vidya regards in high esteem, was the only glitterati seen at the do.



Vidya Balan looked resplendent in a golden coloured Bengali style sari by the noted fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, a favourite of Vidya. She was decked in jewellery but her mehendi art was pretty simple with circular designs.

The actress stepped out of the residence with her family members. She was flanked by father PR Balan, mom Saraswathy and elder sister Priya Balan.

The Mehendi ceremony was a simple, low-key affair just like the sangeeth ceremony (see photos).

Vidya Balan is set to marry UTV Motion Pictures’ CEO Siddharth Roy Kapur on December 14. From what we hear, the wedding ceremony will be held at Sri Subramania Samaj temple, Chheda Nagar, in Chembur. The wedding would be solemnized with Punjabi and South Indian rituals.

We also hear that the couple plans to host a wedding reception in Chennai on Saturday. Bollywood celebs are expected to attend the reception.
