Bombed at BO
With many a blockbuster hitting the billion mark at box office, the hundred crore club lost a bit of aura in 2012, but the year wasn’t without its share of disappointments -- films that promised to be crowd-pullers but turned out to be rank duds at ticket windows. Here’s a look at the most tantalizing turkeys of Bollywood from the year.
Surprisingly, most of the flops like Heroine, Dangerous Ishhq and Players pandered to the tried-and-tested formula. Nothing worked in their favour. Neither could they win critical acclaim, nor wow the audience. On the flip side, movies like Aiyyaa, Agent Vinod and Teri Meri Kahani did try to defy the norm with their unique content, but couldn’t set the cash registers ringing.
Khiladi Kumar, Akshay Kumar delivered a tortuous whammy in the form of Joker, with its director Shirish Kunder -- who had earlier mocked others’ films as ‘fizzled firework’ -- having to eat a humble pie at last.
