Sajid Khan’s comedy films may be sniffed at by the critics, but Bollywood fans sure love his brand of humour as is evident in the new ApunKaChoice poll in which Housefull 2 has been voted the Best Comedy film of 2012.
The year 2012 saw its share of rib-ticklers, most of them dishing out the usual brand of slapstick like the snakes biting at men’s crotches and petty thieves disguising as bumbling cops. Horseplay, buffoonery and mistaken identities were on full display as the comedies like Housefull 2, Bol Bachchan and Son Of Sardaar made no pretense of being brainy.
Likewise there was the sex comedy Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum crammed with double entendres and bawdy humour that found its takers.
Crackling with wit was the small-budget offering Vicky Donor, a film about a sperm donor spreading his seed left right and centre while trying to keep his personal love life from derailing. And then, there was also a dose of wry humour in Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana.
In our new poll, we asked our readers to pick the best comedy of the lot, and no surprises that a majority of them chose Housefull 2 as the best laughfest of 2012.
The film, starring Akshay Kumar and John Abraham as foes trying to win the hands of rich girls, was a runaway hit, even though it was panned summarily by some critics. In our poll, it got 36 percent ayes and pipped all other comedies of the year.
Ahead, check out which film bagged the second and the third spot.
