There has always been a section of people in the society who have been against the corporate world’s money-minded approach towards getting their tasks done. Starring Matt Damon, Frances McDormand and John Krasinski, Promised Land tells the story of a natural gas company that wants the local citizens of a small town to provide drilling rights to their properties.
Needless to say, corporate salesman Steve Butler (Damon) and his sales partner, Sue Thomason (McDormand), will try and lure these localites with money; and we are talking big money here.
However, money is not everything in life for some people. After learning how the drilling would eat up the land and make it uninhabitable, a schoolteacher (Hal Holbrook) with support from a campaign led by another man (John Krasinski) decide to stand against the corporate firm and Steve Butler. The schoolteacher is a wise old man though, as he is heard saying in the trailer ‘You are a good man, Steve... Just wish you were not doing this.’
Oh, and before we forget, Butler is a charmer with the ladies. In the promo, he is seen flirting with Alice (Rosemarie DeWitt) with some wit. The reported release date of Promised Land is 11 January, 2013; the final word, however, is yet to come out.
