Much ado about a kiss!
The upcoming Tamil film Kadal is riding high on buzz, and the recent news to hog the limelight about the film is a kiss between the newcomers Gautham Karthik and Thulasi Nair. The budding actors have shot for a passionate liplock, which is also part of the movie’s promo. The fresh pairing of Gautham and Thulasi is indeed the USP of the film.

Gautham Karthik and Thulasi Nair’s first ever on-screen kiss has garnered a lot of media hype. As per reports, Thulasi was not comfortable doing the scene. Since it’s her first film, she was also nervous about the liplock. However, when Mani Ratnam, who is also her mentor, asked her to give it a shot, she couldn’t say no. It’s learnt that Thulasi agreed to shoot the scene only when the other cast members and crew had left the sets.

It purportedly took four hours to finalize the kiss scene. The intense scene features a ten-second liplock and is shot on a sea shore. Like Thulasi Nair, actor Gautham Karthik was also quite nervous before the scene. He said that he was not told about the intimate scene before he started shooting for the film, and he was informed by the director Mani Ratnam only on the day of the shoot. The kiss scene is said to be aesthetically shot by the director.

Kadal is one of the most-awaited films of the year, and marking Mani Ratnam’s outing after three years since Raavanan. The songs of the film, created by A R Rahman, are also ruling the charts, and everyone including superstar Amitabh Bachchan raving about it. Big B recently tweeted, “The music of AR Rahman plays from his latest film of Maniratnam 'Kadal' ... that strain again, tis' not so sweet again as it was before .. ahh .. yes it plays again ... lyrical, endearing and beautiful ... music the food of love .. and 'Kadal' love ... !!”

Kadal will hit the movie screens on February 1. Arjun Sarja, Arvind Swamy and Lakshmi Manchu can also be seen in the movie in important roles. The film narrates the story of an individual caught between sin and redemption.
