Naino Mein Sapna
In the new Himmatwala song, Ajay Devgn and Tamannaah take you back to the vintage 80s when dance numbers were all about excesses in opulence and garishness.
The song ‘Naina Mein Sapna’ is a riot of colours. Matkas galore, garish props and gaudy costumes, all hark back to the times when Jeetendra and Sridevi’s desi jive was all the rage on silver screen.
In the song’s modern rendition, director Sajid Khan doesn’t depart from the original. In fact, he goes for a similar setting, props and even costumes in the new song. Tamannaah pitches herself headlong into the bump and grind routine and does a lot of latka jhatka with the panache of a seasoned dancer.
Ajay Devgn, dressed in a retro jacket, does try to mimic some of Jeetendra’s dance steps.
“When Amit Kumar started singing Kishoreda's lines, it was almost like Kishoreda had come alive to sing the song for us. There was only one Kishore Kumar and there will be only one Amit Kumar,” Sajid Khan says about recording this number.
Jointly produced by UTV Motion Pictures and Vashu Bhagnani, Himmatwala is slated to hit theatres on March 29.
