Akshay Kumar and Imran Khan seem to have slipped into their characters of Mumbai gangsters pretty well in director Milan Luthria’s film Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2.
The sequel to the 2010 runaway hit Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai has Akshay Kumar taking further the character that was essayed by Emraan Hashmi in the original. As Shoaib Khan (a character allegedly based on Dawood Ibrahim), Akshay looks slick and suave in a black suit with big sunglasses that were all the rage in the 80s.
Imran Khan plays Aslam, Shoaib’s wingman and trusted lieutenant. In the sequel, the duo will take on their rivals and the cops to rise to the top spot in the underworld, but not without some fissures in their own friendship.
Once Upon A Time In Mumbai 2 also features Sonakshi Sinha and Sonali Bendre. The film has been shot in Mumbai and Muscat and it features an important sequence recreating an India and Pakistan cricket encounter at Sharjah. In the sequence, the captains of both the teams are shown waiting for someone special before calling the toss. Then, Akshay Kumar makes a dashing entry in the stands with a posse of cronies. It’s only then that the match begins.
Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 is produced by Ekta Kapoor and is slated to hit theatres on Eid, 2012.
Meanwhile, you can catch some more glimpses of Akshay Kumar as Dawood Ibrahim ahead.
