Bollywood actor-producer-director Farhan Akhtar promoted his MARD (Men Against Rape and Discrimination) campaign at the IPL clash between the Adam Gilchrist-led Kings XI Punjab and the Gautam Gambhir-led Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Friday.
Farhan Akhtar has taken up cudgels for women’s safety in India via his campaign MARD. Using IPL as a platform to spread awareness among the people about this campaign, Farhan distributed fake moustaches, a symbol of his campaign, among the audiences and players at the April 26 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab, played at Eden Gardens.
Spotted wearing the handlebar moustache was the Kings XI Punjab captain Adam Gilchrist.
Farhan Akhtar conceived the MARD campaign in August last year after the horrific rape and murder of a Mumbai lawyer. The campaign became all the more pertinent following the brutal December 16 gang rape in Delhi. Farhan officially launched the campaign in March, 2013.
