Highway to Heaven
Forget Switzerland, get ready to savour the beauty of our very own Kashmir. Presently, Alia Bhatt and director Imtiaz Ali are filming their movie Highway in the unexplored valleys of Kashmir.
Skirting the obvious landmarks of Kashmir, Imtiaz Ali has rather opted to shoot his movie Highway in the upper reaches of the Aru Valley, in the hutments of the nomadic shepherds called ‘Bakarwals’.
The place is rather remote and the shooting crew has to trek 2-3 kms every day to reach the location. Imtiaz Ali even jokes that the entire crew has lost weight despite gorging on Kashmiri food.
“This has been a very different Kashmir for us. We trailed with the Bakarwals who are nomadic shepherds and with them saw the high slopes and streams of upper Himalayan mountains. This is a splendour that we had to trek for hours each day to bring to film. The entire unit lost weight despite gorging on splendid Kashmiri food,” Imtiaz Ali is quoted to have said.
It can be recalled that Imtiaz had shot portions of his last film Rockstar as well in Kashmir.
Since Highway is a road movie, featuring Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda, the film has been shot in several states, including Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Himachal and Kashmir.
