Here comes another musical gem composed by A R Rahman from the movie Raanjhanaa -- Piya Milenge. While most of the tracks released before celebrate love, ‘Piya Milenge’ has a melancholic strain. The song has Sonam Kapoor and Dhanush realizing their love for each other.
As the title of the song suggests, it’s about unrequited but resolute love, and hope of its triumph. The video of the song shows Sonam Kapoor and Dhanush as matured lovers. The angst is evident on the face of the happy-go-lucky Kundan (Dhanush), while the beautiful Zoya (Sonam) is lost and disillusioned.
The song sounds a situational track which comes at that point in the film where Zoya realizes her love for Kundan. The video of the track chronicles the couple’s journey to a dargah, and as always, the lovelorn Kundan is by her side. Later in the video, Zoya confesses to Kundan: Duniya thookegi mujh par, agar tujhse pyaar kiya..par dekh pyaar kar hi liya na.
Piya Milenge has the earthiness of a Sufi number, and is delivered with a punch by Sukhwinder Singh, A R Rahman and KMCC Sufi ensemble. The wonderful lyrics of the song are by Irshad Kamil.
