The movie has Amitabh Bachchan playing a righteous, idealist citizen. He’s a father who grieves for his lost son. Ajay Devgn plays a selfish, mean man who’s initially indifferent to the degenerating state of affairs around him. He’s a son who yearns for a father. Kareena Kapoor plays a journalist. She’s the woman who fights so hard with life that she has forgotten how to love. Arjun Rampal plays a rabble-rouser for whom action is the knee-jerk mantra.
Satyagraha is the story of how these four disparate individuals discover one another, and come together to raise hell, shaking the powers that be to their very roots!
The film is also the story of an influential power-hungry despot (Manoj Bajpayee) who will stop at nothing to destroy them. It’s a tale of a fight for the right, a fight for the truth.
At the launch of the film’s trailer on Wednesday, Prakash Jha said: “The film is not based on Anna Hazare and has nothing to do with the movement. The entire process of satyagraha comes from Gandhiji. Mr. Bachchan plays the role of a satyagrahi who believes in truth.”
