Harshvardhan, also fondly called Harsh, recently returned from the US after studying screenplay writing and acting. While the young gun may say that he is now interested in learning the craft and assisting the biggies in Bollywood, his main interest lies in being a hero. Like his elder sister Sonam Kapoor, he too wants a career in acting, and it’s learnt that after he is done with assisting Anurag Kashyap on Bombay Velvet, he will start working on his first Bollywood movie to be directed by none other than Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.
Director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, currently basking in the glory of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, has decided to sign Harshvardhan Kapoor for his romantic saga Mirza Sahiba, based on the famous tragic Punjabi folklore. Mehra even confirms casting Harshvardhan as Mirza, and tells a daily, “We needed a fresh face and I liked Harsh, as he has the fierce intensity of a lover in him, combined with an innocent softness in his eyes.”
For Mehra, the subject of Mirza Sahiba is very close to his heart. It can be recalled that he wanted to make this film before Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. The draft of the movie was ready even before Bhaag Milkha Bhaag went on the floors. The eminent poet-writer, Gulzar is writing the movie. He started penning it around three years back, says Mehra.
The love tragedy is expected to go on the floors in 2014 as by that time Harshvardhan Kapoor will be free from his work commitments, and also Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra will get his Sahiba. The hunt is on for the lead actress opposite Anil Kapoor’s son.
