Miss World 2013
The Miss World crown continues to elude Indian girls for the 13th year on the trot, but we can still have an appreciative eye for beauty. This year, the coveted tiara adorned Miss Philippines, Megan Young.
23-year-old Young was crowned on Saturday by last year's winner, Wenxia Yu of China, at the 63rd edition of the Miss World pageant held at Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center in Bali, Indonesia.
"No words! Thank you so much for everyone for choosing me," said Young. "I promise to be the best Miss World ever," she added.
Megan Young, a student of digital filmmaking, beat 126 contestants from as many countries to win the pageant that was marred by protests from hardliners in Indonesia, forcing the organizers to shift the venue.
As the new Miss World, Megan Young will spend the next year travelling to represent the Miss World Organization and help raise money for its charitable causes.
The first runner up of the pageant was Miss France Marine Lorphelin. The third place went to Miss Ghana Carranzar Naa Okailey Shooter.
India’s Navneet Kaur Dhillon couldn’t make it to the top ten at the beauty pageant. The last girl from India to win the Miss World crown was Priyanka Chopra in 2000. Since then India has seen a dry run at Miss World pageant.
