After having successfully escaped the Misty Mountains, Bilbo (Martin Freeman), Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and the dwarfs carry on their journey to reclaim their gold and kingdom from dragon Smaug; the film continues from where the first instalment left.
Although we’ve seen Smaug breathing fire in ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’, in the trailer of ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’, he is heard talking to Bilbo. ‘Where are you? Come now, don’t be shy. Step into the light,’ says Smaug, who has been voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch. Dragon’s talking won’t come as a surprise to many since he speaks at length with Bilbo in the novel.
Interestingly, in the trailer, Bilbo almost reveals about his ring to Gandalf. No doubt the first instalment did strike a chord with the audiences, going by the trailer, seems like ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ will make an impact on the critics too.
