If this trailer of Labor Day starring Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin doesn’t take a tug at your heartstrings, nothing will. The film encapsulates the complicated romance between a depressed single mother and an escaped convict.
The trailer opens with Henry Wheeler describing the struggles his mother Adele (Kate Winslet) is facing after his father left the two of them alone; Adele’s hands started shaking beyond her control and even leaving the house became difficult.
At a store, the two encounter Frank (Josh Brolin), a fearsome man bleeding badly, and give him a ride to their home, after he coerces them to do so. The mother and son then hear on radio about Frank being an escaped murder convict, who is being searched for by the police.
However, Frank tells Henry (Gattlin Griffith) there’s more to his story than what is published in the paper and he has never hurt anyone intentionally in his life. Adele believes Frank and gradually falls in love with him.
Adele and Frank ‘were two people who could not go out into the world, so they made a world with each other.’
