As we reported a fortnight back, Ram-Leela has been passed with U/A certificate. But it requires Bhansali to chop down by half the lengthy liplock scene between its lead players.
It’s no secret that Ranveer Singh recently swanked about the passionate kiss with Deepika Padukone in director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film.
The actor had said, “I hope that there will be no objection to the kiss because it's a beautiful kiss. I hope they don't cut the duration because it's a long kiss. It's the best kiss you'll ever see in a Hindi movie.”
Alas, Ranveer’s hope has been dashed as the Central Board of Film Certification asked the director to axe the kiss to half its length. The board also asked Bhansali to make 11 other cuts in the film, including a few cuss words, explicit hand gestures and also a drinking scene. It can be noted that Ram-Leela is set in Gujarat where the sale of liquor is prohibited.
We hear that Bhansali grudgingly accepted the Board’s recommendation for the cuts because he wants a U/A certificate.
A ‘UA’ certificate means that viewers of all ages can watch the film, but it is advised that children below 12 years of age should watch the film under parental guidance.
Ram-Leela hits theatres on November 15.
Ahead, catch more shots of the kisses between Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.
